Psalm 118:24 (ESV) … “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
118:24 This victory over the surrounding nations had been achieved by God and no one else. It is marvelous in our eyes that divine providence has overruled man’s plans. They rejoice in God’s inscrutable, eternal plan. This is the day the Lord has made, meaning the day Israel’s king and Israel’s people were delivered from the threats of Israel’s enemies. Ultimately, this looked ahead prophetically to the death of Christ on the cross, a day which was the eternal plan of God from before time began (Acts 2:23; 1 Pet. 1:20).
118:25. Now rescued, God’s people continued to pray, O Lord, save us and grant us success. This is a request that God would continue to save them from the surrounding nations and send them victory.[1]
Today is your day of victory in God. Give thanks for his might and deliverance and go out and live in that victory that Christ gives us by way of the cross.
