Psalm 47:1 (ESV) … “Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!”
Clapping hands was a sign of joy in the Old Testament. The Psalmist sends out the call to the nations of our world to share with Israel in praising God. It is also a call to express our gratefulness to our great God and King!
Unfortunately, we tend to be such an ungrateful people. After the Lord Jesus cleansed the ten lepers only one came back to give Him thanks, and he was a Samaritan. Said the Lord Jesus sadly: “Were there not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?”
Sadly, Jesus could say the same thing time after time because of our sinful ingratitude and careless neglect of Him. As the sun rises on a new day this morning, take time to let the Lord know your gratefulness and appreciation of his blessings and love.
