Set Your Eyes On the New

Isaiah 43:19 (ESV) … Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

On the basis of God’s new word of promise and hope and on the strength of his consistent character, the prophet drew the consequences. The God of the exodus had something new for them. They must forget the past and its problems. They must surrender thoughts that Yahweh was only the god of the good old days. They must look forward to God’s new thing. Be ready to be surprised by God! God had a new exodus through a new wilderness across new streams that were ready for his people so the people he formed might sing a new hymn to God.[1]

We must have the same heart as children of God. Looking forward and forgetting our past. Giving out guilt to God. We must set our eyes on the things new that God has for us.
