Acts 4:12 (ESV) … “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Now comes one of the greatest gospel texts in the New Testament:
Not the name of Confucius, Buddha, or Allah, not the name of many or any of God’s choicest saints. Not the name of Abraham or Moses. Only in the name of Jesus is salvation to be found.
The name of Jesus, by which the lame man had been healed; the name they hated, was the only name by which they could be saved. They could be saved. They must be saved. But first they must turn to the very Jesus they had crucified and slain. God would save even them on those terms. Could grace be greater? [1]
The good news of salvation is wrapped up in the extoled glory of His name. A name that is above all other names. A name that one day when it is mentioned, all heaven and earth will bow and confess is Lord of all!
