Proverbs 4:18 (ESV) … “But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.”
Another way to say this verse is, “people who love the Lord and walk with Him are like those who advance toward the dawn.”
When we are willing to receive God’s truth into our heart, God has promised to renew our mind (Rom. 12:2) and enables us to think wisely. This helps us make right decisions and experience the guidance of God day by day. The word of God assures us that, God in His loving providence directs us and prepares the path for us.
Augustine said, “Trust the past to the mercy of God, the present to His love, and the future to His providence.” Perhaps King David said it better long before Augustine: “You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” Psalm 16:11 (ESV).
So, the wisdom of this verse is this, that the conduct of the good or just is like the light of dawn whose brightness increases until it is broad daylight. The more we walk in the fellowship with God the brighter the day get for us. The more we walk in that fellowship the better that life gets. We never lose when we chose to be one in fellowship with our Lord and God.
