Psalm 96:2–3 (ESV) … “Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!”
The good news of salvation never gets old or worn out. Therefore, it is to be proclaimed ‘from day to day’ or day after day.
What is to be declared? The glory of the Lord! And His wonders! (v. 3). His wonders and miracles are those works that are breathtaking and magnificent before us. The history of the Israelites, as well as the witness of believers today, is filled with the mighty wonders of the Lord our God who saves us!
For example, the story of salvation is witnessed in how Moses heard the voice of the Lord at the burning bush. How the Lord sent the plagues upon Egypt. How the Lord lead the people across on dry ground at the Red Sea. How the Lord gave the people the law at Mount Sinai. How the Lord gave the people conquest of Jericho and on and on and on. These are just a few of the wonders of which the people of Israel could and should speak! A glorious God who can do wonders!
For us, believers in Christ today, we give that very same type of witness in our worship. We speak of the awesome wonders of Christ. We sing of His mighty hand of salvation that came from Heaven. We tell of how we were dead in our sins and trespasses, yet Christ came and gave himself for us bringing forgiveness and eternal life to all who trust in Him by faith.
Two thousand years later after Christ came, died, arose from the grave and ascended back to Heaven, we still proclaim His magnificence. We tell the story of salvation. It is the story of how we are saved and how we will be saved in the promise of His coming. A story that never grows old and tired!
